"If the horse race is the headlining event that takes place at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May, the proverbial parade of attendees' haute headwear and feathery fascinators can claim the second most important affair of the day.

Details:

• It costs $5 to enter the contest

• Participants (of any gender) don a hat or fascinator Kentucky-Derby style - purchase one or make your own!

• Upon arrival, a polaroid will be taken of you modeling your hat

• Contestant photos will be displayed

• Attendees can purchase votes for $5 or 5 for $20.

• Voting closes at the onset of the Oaks Race (4:45pm).

• Votes will be counted and a winner named just before the Derby race.

• The Winner will receive a hat from Simply Pat’s Hats and a gift certificate for 2 to a local restaurant.
