Land of Lincoln Credit Union Staff Donated Over 355 Hours of Volunteer Service and $7,000 to Support The Good Samaritan Inn's Mission

 

Land of Lincoln Staff Supports The Good Samaritan Inn as its 2018 Charity of the Year

"Our work is all about being neighborly and get people back to work," explains Rev. Stacey Brohard of The Good Samaritan Inn. "I think that's what Land of Lincoln Credit Union's mission is, too - to be neighborly and help people reach their goals."

Land of Lincoln Credit Union staff worked o raise funds for its 2018 Charity of the Year, The Good Samaritan Inn, a Decatur-based farm-to-table soup kitchen that also offers job training.

The staff at Land of Lincoln along with the members rose to the challenge to support the local soup kitchen. The staff, led by Bethanie Hogan, Mortgage Loan Processor and Toby Ragaini, Chief Information Officer, coordinated many fundraisers throughout the year including: bake sales, decal sales, cookouts, employee contests and member donations.

"The work done at The Good Samaritan Inn is very humbling to me," states Toby Ragaini, Chief Information Officer at Land of Lincoln Credit Union. "I truly enjoy volunteering to serve at The Good Samaritan Inn, and even got to take my son to volunteer at The Inn, too."

As a result of their efforts, the Land of Lincoln Credit Union Team presented a donation check for $7,000 to their charity of the year. In addition to the fundraising efforts, the staff at LLCU volunteered 355 hours of service to the Good Samaritan Inn in 2018.

“We loved having the Land of Lincoln Credit Union Team come in and volunteer during the noon meal program,” stated Cindy Jackson, Operations Manager at the Good Samaritan Inn. “They Land of Lincoln team was always bright and cheery and truly changed the tone. We enjoyed having such a fun and energetic team."

The Good Samaritan Inn focuses on revitalizing the neighborhood and the community by meeting basic needs and providing job training. Not only does The Inn serve a healthy and nutritious noon meal 7 days a week, 365 days a year, but The Good Samaritan Inn provides Job Training through its Mercy Programs.

Through the support from Land of Lincoln Credit Union, The Good Samaritan Inn will be able to provide additional financial education to Mercy Programs students, including offering new workshops to teach financial wellness and stability.
